Everything is now ready for this years event on Saturday 24th June on the Village Green.
We will start with our procession, leaving Knowle Drive at 1.30 and arriving at the Green
at about 2pm. With the theme of ‘Americana’ we are expecting a great display this year.
During the afternoon we have already got our full quota of stalls, many of which are new,
together with a full programme of entertainment in the arena. We also have a bouncy
castle and assault course, together with a bucking bronco, with a prize going to the brave
person who can stay on the longest.
Starting from around 4.45 we have arranged some great bands for you, starting with
Naked Bass, a village favourite, followed by ‘Arry and the Atstands’ and finishing with a
new main act, Line Out Functions – Grove Control, a brilliant cover Rock Band. It should
be a great evening of free entertainment finishing, of course, with our traditional firework
display which is promised to be better than ever.
This is the biggest event in the village each year and helps make Copthorne the fantastic
place it is. Please come along and enjoy yourselves. We also have the usual Bar and BBQ
running and if the weather Gods smile on us this year it will again be a great day out.
As I mentioned above, this event is totally free to you all to attend, but it does cost
£1000’s each year to put on. This year the Carnival Committee are running the annual
raffle to help booster our funds for future events, and we would ask for your support by
buying raffle tickets when they are on sale. We have some great prizes donated by local
businesses to whom we are very grateful for their help.
We look forward to seeing you all on 24th June.
