What’s on in Copthorne?
DORIS DAY STORY
“It’s Magic” rides into town…. It’s almost 2 years since mother and son, Sue and Nick Housley, had the opportunity to perform together, but this time they have pulled out all the stops with this specially created show all about the life of iconic film star and vocalist DORIS DAY. Ironically, Doris Day made the news this April with the discovery she is in fact 2 years older than she thought at 95, instead of 93, years of age!
SUSAN ST NICHOLAS, a seasoned regular entertainer specialising in music for the more mature audiences, always appreciated her selection and style of vintage music, and was convinced that her audiences would want to know more about the life of this film star and vocalist. Sue set about creating a storyboard that depicts moments throughout Doris’s life and involved her son Nick James, an equally experienced performer and new resident to Copthorne, who shares the narration and a selection of some of the great recordings we all associate with Doris! Who can forget “Sentimental Journey”, “Move Over Darling”,” Que Sera” and of course the beautiful “Secret Love”, from one of her most famous films “Calamity Jane”. These are just a few of the 25 songs that feature in this feel good nostalgic show.
The show will be on stage at The Village Hall here in Copthorne for two shows, incorporating a matinee at 2.30 and a evening performance at 7.30 on SATURDAY 18th NOVEMBER. Reserve your ticket now, either in person by calling 01342 715307 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/doris-day-story.
