We’ve had a great start to the new school year; together we are settling in and making new friends. The children (and staff!) have loved singing and performing, which we will continue with in preparation for our Christmas nativity performance. We’ve been enjoying some sensory fun with pumpkin seeds and making bonfire cakes. Our firework themed week saw our focus on music and movement as well as making splatter firework pictures. Coming up this term we’ll be making our own band and exploring a variety of instruments and their different sounds.
Eligible parents/carers can now apply for the new 30hrs of free childcare. Our lunch clubs will now be included in the free 15hr or 30hr free childcare (lunch clubs are open to all children).
We are open term time and currently offer Monday – Friday 09:00-12:00 with the option to stay until 3:00pm on a Wednesday. We run themed lunch clubs (12:00-1:00pm) on Mondays (Our World) and Thursdays (Music and Movement). Our sessions are open to children from 2 ½ years old. Do give us a call or email to arrange a visit as we’d love to show you around.
During this term, the children have been having an exciting time with activities and celebrations based around Autumn, from observing the array of Autumn colours and using them in their artwork, to gathering fallen leaves to make collages. We celebrated Diwali exploring patterns with Rangoli pictures, and our Halloween week proved popular including our ghost hunt to aid recognition of numbers. The children made firework pictures using various techniques and also poppies for Remembrance Sunday.
The children are currently participating in a balloon race and have had fun watching their balloons flying high in the sky. We have received back two labels so far with one being from Seaford! Hopefully we’ll have more returned to see how far they go and plot them on our map.
Preparations are now underway for Christmas starting with rehearsals for our play, activities, and of course the Christmas party. Where has the year gone!
We have limited spaces available so if you would like to visit with your child, please e-mail or telephone to arrange a convenient time.
Open term time for children aged 2 to school age, Mon-Fri, 9.15am-3.15pm, 30 hours free entitlement available for eligible working parents of 3-4 year olds or 15 hours free entitlement available for children aged 3 years+ and eligible 2 year olds. We’ve had a busy time at Sunshine since the new school year started in September!
Just before half term we had our Ofsted Inspection where we received a ‘GOOD’ grading. The staff and committee are very happy with this and we have a few good ideas of how to move the pre school forward.
Since half term the children have all been really busy making a beautiful firework picture display. They have also really enjoyed creating artwork to appear in our new ‘Sunshine Gallery’. We have also made some lovely Poppy pictures for Remembrance Day and we talked to the children about why we wear poppies.
Finally we have been busy investigating ice and talking about how it melts and how it is made. We have even found ice outside on the toys and talked about how it looks see though, like windows. We made some big pieces of ice that we then painted on using different brushes.
The children have also enjoyed holding a teddy bears picnic and dressing up to raise money for Children In Need.
We held an open morning in early November which was very successful, and so we will be holding another open morning on Tuesday 20th February 2018. We hope to see you there!
Sunshine is open term time Mon – Fri 9.15 to 12.15, for children aged 2 to school leaver. From January 2018 we will be offering an afternoon session on a Tues until 2.30 or lunch club until 1.15.
Coach House Nursery
Pippins, Acorns and Oaks classes have been enjoying all sorts of fun activities over the past term in the Coach House Nursery. Our youngest children have been learning their colours through stories, rhymes and lots of painting and messy activities whilst our threeyear olds in Acorns class have been learning a new nursery rhyme each week and our older children in Oaks class have been finding out all about People Who Help Us. All the children were thrilled to welcome a range of different professionals into the class but the highlight had to be the day the Fire Engine came!
Forest Fun continues to provide a wonderful opportunity for our children to safely explore our wonderful grounds each week. Children from two years old are given the chance to toast marshmallows around the fire, get stuck in to our fabulous mud kitchen and play hide and seek in the woods.
We are all busy preparing the children for our Nativity plays and Christmas concerts and are very much looking forward to seeing lots of sheep, shepherds, angels and kings show off their wonderful talents in our lovely theatre in a few short weeks!
Open 48 weeks per year for children aged 2+. Bumps, Babes and Toddlers every Friday in term-time 10.00 – 11.30 am in The Coach House Nursery.
