This half term we have a focus on transport and the children have had great fun making aeroplanes and rockets and exploring all methods of transport. We had a lovely visit from an air hostess who told us all about what happens when you go on holiday on an aeroplane!
We have a pre-school group visit to Ladyland farm coming up where the children will be meeting lots of animals with the opportunity to learn all about them and their environment, as well as meeting and holding some very cute baby farm animals. We are also looking forward to the Copthorne Carnival where we’ll be holding a toy tombola stall!
We are open term time in line with West Sussex County Council Schools: Monday – Friday 09:00-12:00 with the option to stay until 3:00pm on a Wednesday. Do give us a call or email to arrange a visit as we’d love to show you around.
Jack and Jill – the nurturing preschool where children can free flow between a large, private garden and indoor play area
How quickly the summer term springs upon us! The children have spent longer periods playing outdoors, whilst being sun safe, creating their own role-play from our tyres, planks and crates pretending to be either pirates, superheroes or monsters! They’ve also had great fun making potions in our mud kitchen thinking of ingredients to add. We have also been looking at ‘mini beasts’, both inside and out, incorporating maths, stories and songs.
We were very pleased once again to have supported Crackerjacks Children’s Trust with a pyjama/onesie fun day raising over £100. Excitement is now growing with the imminent arrival of duck eggs which, fingers crossed, will hatch during a session. The children can’t wait for this fantastic experience.
Transition meetings for our older children are now underway as they prepare for their next adventure in their new schools in September, and we’re looking forward to our outing in July to Ladyland Farm.

We have had a very busy start to our term since Easter! We have been outside a lot developing our Living Garden, and the children have had lots of fun planting lots of flowers, strawberries, peas, and other vegetables. When not planting, the children the children have enjoyed playing with the fairy garden, the dinosaur land and with our mud kitchen. We still have more planting planned during the term.
The final nature addition to our garden was the making of a frog pond; we decided to add this to our garden as we found a mummy frog when we were clearing the area ready to start work, as well as her tadpoles, so we have been looking at the life cycle of the frog. We released them back into their new home and hope they will stay!
Over the rest of the term we will be getting the children ready for the transition to school in September, we are also going to enjoy making the most our new living garden with the children, talking about insects and watching the tadpoles finish growing into frogs.
We will be holding an Open Morning in June, the date is still to be confirmed so keep an eye on our website, facebook page and posters around the village.

A very happy summer term from everyone at The Coach House Nursery. We have enjoyed welcoming lots of new faces and it’s lovely to see them settling in and making friends so quickly.
This term we are joining the nation in celebrating the upcoming royal wedding. Our topic is ‘Turrets and Tiaras’ and we have loads of exciting activities on the go. We have made soldiers, crowns and castles and our displays are looking positively regal! The whole school sat together for a Royal Wedding Banquet, with our 2, 3 & 4 year olds wearing crowns, having painted bunting and then mixed in with the big children up to Year 8.
Our older children in Oaks class have also started their phonics lessons in readiness for the big move to Reception in September. The focus will be on preparing them for the transition with weekly visits to their new teachers and classrooms.
