What’s on in the Hub?

We have put together an offering for family members and friends that we hope will help to simplify what can be a daunting experience at a very difficult time.

The facilities at the Hub are modern, clean and flexible. We can offer the South Room on the First Floor for more intimate gatherings of up to 40 people depending on the layout or the larger Main Hall if you feel this is more appropriate. The Main Hall can seat up to 100 people comfortably and up to 240 people when standing as well as seated. When the weather is sympathetic, we can open the large doors onto the patio and provide seating outside. We include setting the room up and will be happy to discuss your particular requirements.

The Hub has full disabled access and car parking for 13 cars (of which one is for disabled use). There is street parking on Borers Arms Road and Church Road with access to the Hub via the car park or the two pedestrian entrances into the churchyard. However, if you feel additional parking is required, we are very happy to arrange this and provide an Attendant to ensure guests know where they are going. The car park we use is 5 minutes’ walk from the Hub along pavements. A map can be supplied.

There is free Wifi and full audio/visual equipment in both rooms, should you wish to avail of it. There is no additional cost for this and includes projectors and electronic screens in the ceiling.

We fully understand what is required when catering for this type of gathering and will simply supply you with excellent quality, fresh food, understanding staff to look after your guests and discreet service.

It is always difficult to know the exact number of people to cater for following a funeral, so a best estimate is absolutely fine, there will always be extra plates, cups and saucers so don’t worry if you get a few extra unexpected people on the day. However, should you wish to make all the arrangements yourself, we are very happy for you to do so.

Gareth Penrhyn is a Personal Trainer, Class Trainer and the owner of Penrhyn PT, a Personal Training company based in Crawley and covering a large area of the south east. Now providing multiple classes out of the Copthorne Parish Hub, here is some background into the man behind the business:
“I studied sports science and history at university and spent a number of years working in gyms building knowledge, mastering my skill set and gaining vital experience in understanding what people wanted and the barriers to them making the changes they wanted to both their bodies and health. In 2008 I opened up a gym at the Langley Green Mental Health Hospital and trained both staff and patients, building their fitness and improving general well-being for a number of years.
Following this I became a full-time Physical Education Teacher in different challenging environments, whilst continuing to provide fitness training in my spare time.
In April 2014, I decided to leave teaching and opened Penrhyn PT. Initially it was a challenging time but I started training clients on a one to one basis and then introduced fitness classes in Maidenbower, which expanded from three sessions to ten per week in January 2016. Offering people of all abilities small, group training sessions where they could have an effective but fun all body workout in a positive and nonjudgemental environment. During this time we built a strong community of people with great mutual support and accountability to keep everyone motivated.
Our success in Maidenbower then enabled us to launch nine fitness classes a week at the Copthorne Parish Hub in August 2016. Using the platform we had built in Maidenbower and a strong team of staff, we have had a successful number of months and are now launching five Pilates classes per week in Copthorne from 16th January. By adding this discipline to the timetable, we will be able to help our current clients in an even more positive way – improving their flexibility and posture. The other exciting aspect to this development is that we will be able to reach out to even more people with different challenges and help them reach their goals.

The team are really excited about the new classes and training programs that we will be bringing to the Copthorne in 2017, where we can continue to make an even more positive change to people’s lives.” – Gareth Penrhyn Penrhyn Personal Training offer a wide range of services that cover all aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including one to one training sessions, fitness classes, Pilates, nutritional advice and exclusive member support. Since May 2016 Springfit Gymnastics and Trampoline Club having been bringing gymnastics classes to Copthorne and they have proved to be roaring success. Running from the fantastic Copthorne Parish Hub, Club Manager for Copthorne Katie Pidgeon and her team have been teaching Copthorne’s children from preschoolers to teenagers how to handstand, cartwheel and much more in a fun, safe environment. After school on both Mondays and Tuesdays Springfit run their Gymnastics classes for your school aged children. Here they are introduced to the beam, trampette and floor work. At Springfit, they use elements from rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, acrobatics and tumbling to create a varied class experience. Most importantly, they think gymnastics should be fun. There is so much enjoyment to be gained from jumping over things, springing up, rolling around, twisting away and generally tumbling about in a safe environment, the classes are jammed pack with fun!!
